Walmart Parking Lots for The New York Times

Fellow photographer and long time friend, George Etheredge and I embarked on a four day journey in a rented van sleeping in Walmart parking lots for The New York Times documenting our own adventures as well as the other folks who inhabit the parking lots which allow overnighters. Some of the folks we met were traveling through on a long trip and just looking for a safe and free place to sleep for the night, while others were seeking solace from a bad situation at home or were homeless. I have condensed this presentation to just the portrait series of people in their vehicles. The article can be found under the headline: Overnight in Walmart Parking Lots: Silence, Solace and Refuge
